S.B. No. 1622
AN ACT
1-1 relating to the creation of the County Court at Law No. 3 of Bell
1-2 County.
1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-4 SECTION 1. Section 25.0161, Government Code, is amended to
1-5 read as follows:
1-6 Sec. 25.0161. Bell County. Bell County has the following
1-7 statutory county courts:
1-8 (1) County Court at Law No. 1 of Bell County; <and>
1-9 (2) County Court at Law No. 2 of Bell County; and
1-10 (3) County Court at Law No. 3 of Bell County.
1-11 SECTION 2. Section 25.0162, Government Code, is amended by
1-12 adding Subsection (a) to read as follows:
1-13 (a) The judge of County Court at Law No. 3 of Bell County is
1-14 prohibited from being assigned under Chapter 74 as a visiting judge
1-15 in Bexar, Dallas, Ector, Fort Bend, Harris, Jefferson, Lubbock,
1-16 Midland, Tarrant, or Travis County.
1-17 SECTION 3. Notwithstanding Section 25.0161, Government Code,
1-18 as amended by this Act, the County Court at Law No. 3 of Bell
1-19 County is created January 1, 1999, or on an earlier date determined
1-20 by the commissioners court by an order entered on its minutes.
1-21 SECTION 4. The importance of this legislation and the
1-22 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-23 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-24 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
2-1 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
2-2 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
2-3 passage, and it is so enacted.
