                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
                                        AN ACT
    1-1  relating to the creation of the County Court at Law No. 3 of Bell
    1-2  County.
    1-3        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-4        SECTION 1.  Section 25.0161, Government Code, is amended to
    1-5  read as follows:
    1-6        Sec. 25.0161.  Bell County.  Bell County has the following
    1-7  statutory county courts:
    1-8              (1)  County Court at Law No. 1 of Bell County; <and>
    1-9              (2)  County Court at Law No. 2 of Bell County; and
   1-10              (3)  County Court at Law No. 3 of Bell County.
   1-11        SECTION 2.  Notwithstanding Section 25.0161, Government Code,
   1-12  as amended by this Act, the County Court at Law No. 3 of Bell
   1-13  County is created January 1, 1999, or on an earlier date determined
   1-14  by the commissioners court by an order entered on its minutes.
   1-15        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-16  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-17  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-18  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-19  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-20  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-21  passage, and it is so enacted.
   1-22                       COMMITTEE AMENDMENT NO. 1
   1-23        Amend Senate Bill 1622 by adding a new Section 2 to read as
   1-24  follows and renumbering subsequent sections:
    2-1        SECTION 2.  Section 25.0162, Government Code, is amended by
    2-2  adding a new Subsection (a) to read as follows:
    2-3        Sec. 25.0162.  Bell County Court at Law Provisions.  (a)  The
    2-4  judge of County Court at Law No. 3 of Bell County is prohibited
    2-5  from being assigned under Chapter 74 of the Government Code as a
    2-6  visiting judge in Bexar, Dallas, Ector, Fort Bend, Harris,
    2-7  Jefferson, Lubbock, Midland, Tarrant or Travis counties.
