                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
                                        AN ACT
    1-1  relating to the designation of State Highway 190 in Dallas, Collin,
    1-2  and Denton counties as the President George Bush Highway.
    1-3        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-4        SECTION 1.  State Highway 190 in Dallas, Collin, and Denton
    1-5  counties, including those portions under construction or design, is
    1-6  designated as the President George Bush Highway.  The designation
    1-7  is in addition to any other designation.
    1-8        SECTION 2.  (a)  The Texas Department of Transportation or,
    1-9  if the Texas Turnpike Authority assumes jurisdiction over the
   1-10  highway, the authority shall design and construct markers to be
   1-11  placed along State Highway 190 indicating its designation as the
   1-12  President George Bush Highway.
   1-13        (b)  The markers shall include the highway number and any
   1-14  other information that the department or authority determines is
   1-15  appropriate.
   1-16        (c)  Markers shall be erected at each end of the highway and
   1-17  at intermediate sites that the department or authority determines
   1-18  are appropriate.
   1-19        (d)  The department or authority is responsible for repair
   1-20  and replacement of the markers and for maintenance of the grounds
   1-21  surrounding each marker.
   1-22        (e)  The department or authority may accept grants and
   1-23  donations from individuals and other entities to assist in
   1-24  financing the construction and maintenance of the markers.
    2-1        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
    2-2  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
    2-3  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
    2-4  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
    2-5  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
    2-6  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
    2-7  passage, and it is so enacted.
