    1-6                         A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-7                                AN ACT
    1-8  relating to the designation of State Highway 190 in Dallas, Collin,
    1-9  and Denton counties as the President George Bush Highway.
   1-10        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
   1-11        SECTION 1.  State Highway 190 in Dallas, Collin, and Denton
   1-12  counties, including those portions under construction or design, is
   1-13  designated as the President George Bush Highway.  The designation
   1-14  is in addition to any other designation.
   1-15        SECTION 2.  (a)  The Texas Department of Transportation or,
   1-16  if the Texas Turnpike Authority assumes jurisdiction over the
   1-17  highway, the authority shall design and construct markers to be
   1-18  placed along State Highway 190 indicating its designation as the
   1-19  President George Bush Highway.
   1-20        (b)  The markers shall include the highway number and any
   1-21  other information that the department or authority determines is
   1-22  appropriate.
   1-23        (c)  Markers shall be erected at each end of the highway and
   1-24  at intermediate sites that the department or authority determines
   1-25  are appropriate.
   1-26        (d)  The department or authority is responsible for repair
   1-27  and replacement of the markers and for maintenance of the grounds
   1-28  surrounding each marker.
   1-29        (e)  The department or authority may accept grants and
   1-30  donations from individuals and other entities to assist in
   1-31  financing the construction and maintenance of the markers.
   1-32        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-33  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-34  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-35  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-36  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-37  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-38  passage, and it is so enacted.
