CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas Legislature is proud to honor the Texas
1-2 Congress of Parents and Teachers and local parent/teacher
1-3 associations (PTAs) for providing 85 years of outstanding service
1-4 to youngsters throughout the Lone Star State; and
1-5 WHEREAS, These admirable individuals share a goal to provide
1-6 the best possible physical, mental, social, and spiritual education
1-7 for Texas youths; with this in mind, they diligently work to
1-8 promote child welfare in the home, school, and community, secure
1-9 adequate laws for both child care and protection, and forge a
1-10 closer relationship between the home and school; and
1-11 WHEREAS, More than 800,000 members work closely with public
1-12 educators across the state, and their enthusiastic efforts have
1-13 played a key role in developing innovative and inspiring
1-14 educational goals that will help prepare Texas youths for
1-15 leadership roles well into the coming century; and
1-16 WHEREAS, The program undoubtedly could not have achieved the
1-17 success that it has today were it not for the selfless service of
1-18 its volunteers, who have given generously of their time, talents,
1-19 and energies for the betterment of the youth of our state; and
1-20 WHEREAS, Throughout its proud history, the Texas PTA has
1-21 worked to improve educational opportunities for all Texas children,
1-22 and its exemplary programs continue to instill in them the values
1-23 that have made our state strong and great; now, therefore, be it
1-24 RESOLVED, That the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas
2-1 hereby designate February 1, 1995, as the 18th annual Texas PTA
2-2 Legislative Day at the Capitol and commend the Texas PTA and the
2-3 many men and women who have made it a success; and, be it further
2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-5 prepared for the Texas PTA as an expression of high regard by the
2-6 Legislature of the State of Texas.
