                             SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
    1-1        WHEREAS, The 74th Legislature of the State of Texas is
    1-2  pleased to recognize the Lions football team of John Tyler High
    1-3  School in Tyler, Texas, on winning the 5A Division II championship;
    1-4  and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Exhibiting awesome talent and perseverance
    1-6  throughout the year, the athletic director, the team players, and
    1-7  the coaches deserve to be proud of their efforts and outstanding
    1-8  performance; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership of Head Coach Allen
   1-10  Wilson, the Lions had a perfect season with no losses; from there
   1-11  they progressed to winning the division playoffs; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Their capture of the division championship
   1-13  demonstrated the team members' winning spirit, discipline, and
   1-14  courage; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The Lions' superb success is attributable to the
   1-16  exceptional guidance of the coaching staff:  Demetrio Hernandez,
   1-17  Tom Collins, Billy Wilson, Kenneth Bickham, Randy Pool, Harold
   1-18  Wright, Hardy Brunette, Lonny Hagan, Ray Giddens, Robert Qualls,
   1-19  David Clapp, and Billy Blurton; managers, Kendrick Moss, Paul
   1-20  Defoore, and Greg Champion; trainers, Todd Ford, Alexia Sirles, and
   1-21  Roylena Stewart; and athletic trainer, Billy Laxton, and to the
   1-22  competitive spirit that characterized the overall performances of

   2-21        WHEREAS, These young athletes and the athletic department of
   2-22  John Tyler High School have brought honor to themselves, John Tyler
   2-23  High School, and the City of Tyler; the Lions are certainly worthy
   2-24  of the recognition bestowed on them; now, therefore, be it
   2-25        RESOLVED, That the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas
    3-1  hereby congratulate the Lions of John Tyler High School and their
    3-2  coaches, trainers, managers, and athletic director for winning the
    3-3  5A Division II championship and express its best wishes for
    3-4  continued success in the future; and, be it further
    3-5        RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be prepared for the
    3-6  team members and the staff of the athletic department as an
    3-7  expression of the high regard of the Texas Legislature.
