                                 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
    1-1        WHEREAS, The State of Texas is considering the need to expand
    1-2  health education programs in border counties and South Texas; and
    1-3        WHEREAS, The State of Texas wishes to achieve maximum
    1-4  efficiency and cost savings in establishing health education
    1-5  programs by using available facilities and resources to the extent
    1-6  practicable; now, therefore, be it
    1-7        RESOLVED, That the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas
    1-8  direct the board of regents of The University of Texas System to
    1-9  conduct a study to assess the availability and suitability of
   1-10  existing facilities in El Paso County and the border region for use
   1-11  in connection with the operation of health education programs in
   1-12  the region; and, be it further
   1-13        RESOLVED, That the Texas Department of Health be directed to
   1-14  cooperate with the board of regents in conducting the study,
   1-15  especially in relation to the availability and suitability of
   1-16  facilities owned or operated by the department in El Paso County
   1-17  and the border region for use in providing health education
   1-18  programs; and, be it further
   1-19        RESOLVED, That the board of regents be directed to complete
   1-20  the study and report the results of the study to the legislature
   1-21  and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board not later than
   1-22  October 1, 1996.
