                                  A JOINT RESOLUTION
    1-1  ratifying a proposed amendment to the Constitution of the United
    1-2  States providing for a federal balanced budget.
    1-3        BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-4        SECTION 1.  The Legislature of the State of Texas, pursuant
    1-5  to Article V of the United States Constitution, hereby ratifies an
    1-6  amendment to the Constitution of the United States proposed by
    1-7  House Joint Resolution No. 1 or Senate Joint Resolution No. 1 of
    1-8  the 104th Congress of the United States, which requires a balanced
    1-9  federal budget.
   1-10        SECTION 2.  The secretary of state of the State of Texas
   1-11  shall notify the archivist of the United States of the action of
   1-12  the 74th Legislature of the State of Texas, Regular Session, 1995,
   1-13  by sending the archivist a copy of this resolution.
   1-14        SECTION 3.  The secretary of state of the State of Texas
   1-15  shall also send copies of this resolution to the United States
   1-16  senators from Texas, to all United States representatives from
   1-17  Texas, to the vice-president of the United States, and to the
   1-18  speaker of the United States House of Representatives with the
   1-19  request that it be printed in full in the Congressional Record.
