                                SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION
    1-1  proposing that the Supreme Court be directed to promulgate certain
    1-2  rules regarding lawyer advertising.
    1-3        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-4        SECTION 1.  The Supreme Court is required by Section
    1-5  81.024(e), Government Code to promulgate each rule and amendment
    1-6  governing the discipline of members of the state bar that receives
    1-7  a majority of the votes cast in an election by the members of the
    1-8  state bar.  The Supreme Court, in Misc. Docket No. 94-9167,
    1-9  promulgated certain amendments to the Texas Disciplinary Rules of
   1-10  Professional Conduct which had been passed by the members of the
   1-11  state bar.  The Supreme Court did not promulgate each of the
   1-12  amendments that received a majority of the votes cast in an
   1-13  election by the members of the state bar.  The Texas Legislature
   1-14  hereby directs the Supreme Court to promulgate those rules and
   1-15  amendments to the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct
   1-16  that received a majority of the votes cast in an election by the
   1-17  members of the state bar and were not promulgated in Misc. Docket
   1-18  No. 94-9167.
