No. 10 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased and 1-3 proud to honor the Texas-Costa Rica Legislative Exchange Program; 1-4 and 1-5 WHEREAS, It is indeed appropriate to extend a warm thank you 1-6 to Hugo Cascante Mico and Fernando Lara Gamboa who will be working 1-7 in the Texas Legislature while participating in the Texas-Costa Rica 1-8 Legislative Exchange Program; and 1-9 WHEREAS, This illustrious program was created last year 1-10 through the Center for Democracy in cooperation with the Texas Senate, 1-11 the Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica, the University of San Jose, 1-12 the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, and the Institute of 1-13 Latin American Studies; and 1-14 WHEREAS, The program is designed to strengthen democratic 1-15 systems and the making of public policy in both Texas and Costa Rica 1-16 through the exchange of legislative staff and students of public 1-17 policy; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Because of the nature of the rapidly growing 1-19 international arena, it is vital that Texans and Costa Ricans 1-20 learn more about each other's social, political, and administrative 1-21 structures, as well as how each entity conducts business; and 1-22 WHEREAS, The program also promotes strengthened ties between 1-23 Texas and Costa Rica that will result in a relationship based on 2-1 cooperation and mutual respect; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-3 74th Legislature, hereby recognize the notable Hugo Cascante Mico 2-4 and Fernando Lara Gamboa for their cooperation with the legislative 2-5 exchange program between the State of Texas and the Republic of 2-6 Costa Rica; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-8 Mr. Cascante Mico and Mr. Lara Gamboa as an expression of the 2-9 admiration and respect of the Texas Senate. 2-10 ______________________________________ 2-11 President of the Senate 2-12 I hereby certify that the above 2-13 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-14 on January 16, 1995. 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 Secretary of the Senate 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 Member, Texas Senate
