    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                          Dennise Cobb Davis
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
    1-6  of Lubbock in mourning the loss of Dennise Cobb Davis who died
    1-7  December 16, 1994, at the age of 87; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Born in Seminole, Dennise Cobb was a graduate of
    1-9  Texas Tech University; she married Roy B. Davis on December 21, 1929,
   1-10  and he died in 1975; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, An exemplary lady, she was dedicated to her work
   1-12  as a homemaker and was respected for her many accomplishments; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, A well-known community leader, Mrs. Davis was a
   1-14  member of the Governor's Committee on the Aging, the West Texas
   1-15  Museum Association, the Planning Council for Services for Senior
   1-16  Citizens, and the Board of Overseers of the Ranching Heritage
   1-17  Center; she was president of the Democratic Women of Lubbock
   1-18  County and helped promote the South Plains cotton industry; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity, she
   1-20  gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and
   1-21  valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mrs. Davis was a member of the
   1-23  First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Dennise Davis was a devoted wife, mother, and
    2-2  grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured
    2-3  forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-5  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
    2-6  bereaved family of Dennise Cobb Davis:  her sons, Dan W. Davis
    2-7  and Roy B. Davis, Jr.; and her six grandchildren and three
    2-8  great-grandchildren; and, be it further
    2-9        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-10  the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from
   2-11  the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
   2-12  so in memory of Dennise Davis.
