    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                          Harmon T. Copeland
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
    1-6  citizens of Plainview in mourning the loss of Harmon T. Copeland
    1-7  who died December 31, 1994, at the age of 90; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Born April 8, 1904, in Montague County,
    1-9  Harmon Copeland married Gladys Hagler on March 19, 1933; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Mr. Copeland was dedicated to his work as a
   1-11  schoolteacher, coach, and superintendent until his retirement; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, A man of many talents and interests, he also served
   1-13  as a director of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation
   1-14  Service and of the Soil Conservation District; he was on the board
   1-15  of directors of the Tulia Feed Lot and Tulia Independent School
   1-16  District; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Harmon Copeland was
   1-18  respected in the community for his many accomplishments; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he
   1-20  gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth,
   1-21  and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Harmon Copeland was a devoted husband, father, and
   1-23  grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
    2-1  forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
    2-2        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-3  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
    2-4  bereaved family of Harmon T. Copeland:  his wife, Gladys Copeland;
    2-5  his son, Tom Copeland; his daughters, Shirley Hodges, Lanelle Dovel,
    2-6  Karen Kennedy, and Martha Gowen; his sister, Georgia Pigg; and his
    2-7  19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; and, be it further
    2-8        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-9  the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
   2-10  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
   2-11  day, it do so in memory of Harmon Copeland.
