    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                           Virgil P. Carter
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
    1-6  citizens of Tahoka in mourning the loss of Virgil P. Carter
    1-7  who died December 23, 1994, at the age of 79; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Born August 25, 1915, in Cleburne, Virgil Carter
    1-9  married Velma Gray on December 15, 1933; he was a graduate of
   1-10  Texas Tech University and served in the United States Army during
   1-11  World War II; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Mr. Carter was dedicated to his work as a teacher
   1-13  of vocational agriculture until his retirement; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Virgil Carter was respected
   1-15  in the community for his many accomplishments; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he
   1-17  gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and
   1-18  valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mr. Carter was a member of the
   1-20  First Baptist Church; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Virgil Carter was a devoted husband, father, and
   1-22  grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
   1-23  forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
    2-1        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-2  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
    2-3  bereaved family of Virgil P. Carter:  his wife, Velma Carter;
    2-4  his son, Richard Lee Carter; his brother, James Duane Carter; his
    2-5  sisters, Eunice Sales and Gladyes Towles; and his grandchild and
    2-6  two great-grandchildren; and, be it further
    2-7        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
    2-8  members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
    2-9  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
   2-10  in memory of Virgil Carter.
