No. 58 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in 1-3 recognizing Llano Memorial Hospital which was recently selected 1-4 as one of the nation's top-performing hospitals by the 1994 "100 1-5 Top Hospitals--Benchmarks for Success" study conducted annually 1-6 by HCIA and Mercer Management Consulting, Incorporated; and 1-7 WHEREAS, To qualify as one of the Top 100, hospitals had 1-8 to rank above their peers on eight measures of effectiveness 1-9 and efficiency in clinical practice, operations, and financial 1-10 management; the measures indicate effective use of resources, 1-11 efficient provision of care, and high-quality outcomes; and 1-12 WHEREAS, On the basis of the 1993 Medicare cost report 1-13 and discharge data, Llano Memorial Hospital is one of the nation's 1-14 best-performing general acute-care hospitals, and as an exemplary 1-15 institution, it can be of immense value to other hospitals striving 1-16 to improve performance; and 1-17 WHEREAS, The study suggests that if all the hospitals in the 1-18 United States could perform at levels demonstrated by the Top 100, 1-19 expenses would decline by $21 billion and mortality rates would 1-20 drop by 17 percent; and 1-21 WHEREAS, With the outstanding leadership of its administration 1-22 and with its fine management and personnel, Llano Memorial Hospital 1-23 offers stability and superior services to the residents of Texas; and 2-1 WHEREAS, The hospital has stayed abreast of the latest 2-2 innovations in health care and has continued to thrive as a vital 2-3 Llano institution whose employees consistently strive for efficiency 2-4 and excellence in all areas of operation; now, therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-6 74th Legislature, hereby commend Llano Memorial Hospital for its 2-7 commitment to high quality and to providing superior health care 2-8 services and extend to the hospital congratulations on earning a 2-9 place in the 1994 "100 Top Hospitals--Benchmarks for Success" study; 2-10 and, be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-12 hospital as an expression of regard from the Texas Senate. 2-13 ______________________________________ 2-14 President of the Senate 2-15 I hereby certify that the above 2-16 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-17 on January 23, 1995. 2-18 ______________________________________ 2-19 Secretary of the Senate 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 Member, Texas Senate
