1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-2 In Memory
1-3 of
1-4 Damon William Black
1-5 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
1-6 of Fort Davis in mourning the tragic loss of Damon William Black
1-7 who died November 17, 1994, at the age of 17; and
1-8 WHEREAS, The son of Nancy Black and Ricky W. Black, Damon was
1-9 born in Alpine on September 26, 1977; he was an exceptional athlete
1-10 who was a starting fullback and a linebacker for the Fort Davis
1-11 Indians football team during the 1994 season; and
1-12 WHEREAS, The gifted player was widely recognized for his
1-13 natural talent, and he brought a sense of pride and confidence
1-14 to the team; he was also a valuable member of the high school
1-15 basketball and golf teams; and
1-16 WHEREAS, Damon was an avid hunter who loved life and shared
1-17 his interests with his close friends; his warm personality and high
1-18 spirits made him a favorite among young people and adults alike;
1-19 Damon was recently named "Most Handsome" student by his classmates;
1-20 and
1-21 WHEREAS, The death of such a fine young man is felt not only
1-22 by those who knew him but by Texans across the state who share the
1-23 sorrow of all who mourn his passing; Damon will continue to live
2-1 in the memories of the individuals whose lives he touched; now,
2-2 therefore, be it
2-3 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-4 74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
2-5 family of Damon William Black: his mother, Nancy Black; his
2-6 father, Ricky W. Black; his sister, Mercer Black; his brother,
2-7 Brandon Black; and his maternal grandmother, Cheta Hollen; and,
2-8 be it further
2-9 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his
2-10 family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,
2-11 and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-12 Damon William Black.
