No. 76 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in 1-3 congratulating McClendon Elementary School of Nevada, Texas, for 1-4 receiving an accreditation status of Recognized from the Texas 1-5 Successful Schools Award System for 1993-1994; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The criteria for earning an accreditation status of 1-7 Recognized are based on scores on the Texas Assessment of Academic 1-8 Skills, attendance rate, and required improvement; and 1-9 WHEREAS, In order for a school to qualify for this award, 1-10 at least 65 percent of all its students must pass each TAAS subject 1-11 area; also the school must have an attendance rate of at least 94 1-12 percent and the rate of change in each TAAS subject area from 1993 1-13 to 1994 must meet or exceed 90 percent passing within five years; 1-14 and 1-15 WHEREAS, This honor demonstrates the talent, dedication, and 1-16 hard work of the students and members of the faculty at McClendon 1-17 Elementary School; and 1-18 WHEREAS, The award also reflects the superior leadership of 1-19 the school's principal and the united efforts of the administrators, 1-20 teachers, and students to meet the challenge of performance 1-21 improvement; now, therefore, be it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-23 74th Legislature, hereby commend McClendon Elementary School 2-1 for meeting the criteria established for a Texas Successful Schools 2-2 Award System accreditation status of Recognized and for bringing 2-3 honor to the school district and to the community; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-5 McClendon Elementary School as an expression of regard from the 2-6 Texas Senate. 2-7 ______________________________________ 2-8 President of the Senate 2-9 I hereby certify that the above 2-10 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-11 on January 24, 1995. 2-12 ______________________________________ 2-13 Secretary of the Senate 2-14 ______________________________________ 2-15 Member, Texas Senate
