    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
    1-3  recognize Ted H. Forsythe, M.D., who recently retired from his
    1-4  private practice and from his position as Clinical Professor of
    1-5  Obstetrics and Gynecology at Texas Tech University School of
    1-6  Medicine; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, Born on January 23, 1927, in Crystal City, Texas,
    1-8  Ted Forsythe earned his bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University
    1-9  and his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch
   1-10  at Galveston in 1953; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Dr. Forsythe served his country in the United States
   1-12  Navy Hospital Corps in 1945 and 1946 and was honorably discharged
   1-13  as a Pharmacist Mate 3rd Class; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Devoted to his patients and to his profession,
   1-15  Dr. Forsythe has dedicated his life to providing superior health
   1-16  care for the residents of the Lubbock area; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, He was licensed to practice in Texas in 1953, and
   1-18  he opened his private practice in Lubbock on July 1, 1957; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, A board certified physician for over 28 years,
   1-20  Dr. Forsythe belongs to the Texas Medical Association and the
   1-21  American Medical Association; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, He has been a fellow of the American College of
   1-23  Obstetricians and Gynecologists since 1960, a member of the
    2-1  Gynecologic Laser Society since 1981, and a member of the American
    2-2  Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology since 1972; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Highly respected in his field, Dr. Forsythe has been
    2-4  the Area Advisor to the Texas Section of the American College of
    2-5  Obstetricians and Gynecologists and served on the Advisory Council
    2-6  of The University of Texas School of Nursing from 1975 to 1978 and
    2-7  the Advisory Council of the South Plains College School of Nursing
    2-8  from 1984 through 1986; and
    2-9        WHEREAS, He has contributed to his profession as a member of
   2-10  the Texas Legislative Task Force on Cancer in 1985 and 1986, the
   2-11  Medical Advisory Committee of Special Committee on Post-Secondary
   2-12  Education in Texas in 1988, and the Texas Physicians Advisory
   2-13  Committee of The University of Texas Cancer Center at M. D. Anderson
   2-14  Hospital from 1976 through 1979 and from 1986 through 1992; and
   2-15        WHEREAS, Among the numerous honors he has merited are being
   2-16  named recipient of the American Medical Association Physician's
   2-17  Recognition Award in 1989 and 1992, recipient of the Distinguished
   2-18  Professorship in Women's Health Care by the faculty of Obstetrics
   2-19  and Gynecology of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center,
   2-20  and recipient of the Lubbock-Crosby-Garza County Medical Society
   2-21  Hippocratic Award in 1994; and
   2-22        WHEREAS, The Lubbock community and the entire State of Texas
   2-23  have greatly benefitted from the generous spirit and professional
   2-24  excellence of this beloved physician; now, therefore, be it
   2-25        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    3-1  74th Legislature, hereby extend appreciation to Dr. Ted H. Forsythe
    3-2  for his invaluable contributions to his community and his state and
    3-3  extend to him best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it
    3-4  further
    3-5        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    3-6  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
