By: Montford S.R. No. 84 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 In Memory 1-3 of 1-4 W. D. Allgood 1-5 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens 1-6 of Lubbock in mourning the loss of W. D. "Dub" Allgood who died 1-7 January 15, 1995, at the age of 71; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Born July 24, 1923, in Brown County, Dub Allgood 1-9 married Nova Kendrick Oates on February 28, 1988; he served with 1-10 the United States Army during World War II and was a life member 1-11 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Mr. Allgood was dedicated to his work as an outboard 1-13 motor mechanic until his retirement; he had also been an employee 1-14 of Farmers Exchange and Steve Brock Boat Sales; and 1-15 WHEREAS, An exemplary citizen, Dub Allgood was respected in 1-16 the community for his accomplishments; he was a member of the 1-17 Senior Citizen Volunteer Program; and 1-18 WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he 1-19 gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth, 1-20 and sense of humor will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Dub Allgood was a devoted husband, father, and 1-22 grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured 1-23 forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-2 74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to 2-3 the bereaved family of W. D. "Dub" Allgood: his wife, 2-4 Nova Oates Allgood; his sons, Alan Allgood, Bill Oates, and 2-5 James Oates; his daughters, Susan Adkins, Jayna Coppedge, and 2-6 Judy Lester; his brother, Roy Allgood; and his nine grandchildren 2-7 and three great-grandchildren; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-9 members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from 2-10 the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it 2-11 do so in memory of W. D.
