    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, Lubbock, Texas, is recognized as a young, progressive
    1-3  community with an eye on the future; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, The City of Lubbock is the center of Texas'
    1-5  agribusiness economy, supplying close to half of the state's annual
    1-6  cotton production and leading Texas' blossoming grape-growing and
    1-7  wine industry; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, In addition to its significance as a center for
    1-9  business, this growing city is home to Reese Air Force Base,
   1-10  one of the nation's most important Air Force jet pilot training
   1-11  locations; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Four institutions of higher learning are found
   1-13  within the city:  Texas Tech University, South Plains College,
   1-14  Lubbock Christian University, and Wayland Baptist University's
   1-15  Lubbock campus; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, This outstanding South Plains city is also a major
   1-17  medical center with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences
   1-18  Center, seven hospitals and over 500 practicing physicians with
   1-19  hundreds of specialties that serve patients throughout the
   1-20  Southwest; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, The Leadership Lubbock program administered by
   1-22  the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to training community
   1-23  leaders to continually maintain and enhance the superior quality
    2-1  of life in Lubbock and Texas; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, It is appropriate that the Texas Senate recognize
    2-3  the participants of the 1995 Leadership Lubbock program for their
    2-4  numerous contributions and accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-6  74th Legislature, hereby welcome the Leadership Lubbock delegation
    2-7  to the State Capitol; and, be it further
    2-8        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared
    2-9  for the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce in recognition of this special
   2-10  occasion and as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
