1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-2 WHEREAS, Dr. Frank G. Moody has been selected as the
1-3 "Distinguished Houston Surgeon" for 1995 by The Houston Surgical
1-4 Society, and the Texas Senate is proud to recognize the esteemed
1-5 doctor for his exceptional contributions to medicine; and
1-6 WHEREAS, Dr. Moody is the Denton A. Cooley Professor and
1-7 Chairman of the Department of Surgery at The University of Texas
1-8 Medical School and the Surgeon-in-Chief at Hermann Hospital; and
1-9 WHEREAS, Dr. Moody is also Professor of Surgery at the
1-10 Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at The University of Texas
1-11 Health Science Center; and
1-12 WHEREAS, His illustrious career has been marked by
1-13 professional honors including the Grand Gold Medaille, Milan, Italy,
1-14 in 1990; the Olof Acrel Medal of the Swedish Surgical Society in
1-15 1992, and the Professor Honorario at the Hospital Universitario
1-16 Doce de Octubre, Madrid, Spain, in 1992; and
1-17 WHEREAS, A native of Franklin, New Hampshire, Dr. Moody
1-18 graduated from Dartmouth College in 1953 and received his medical
1-19 training at Cornell University Medical Center in New York in 1963;
1-20 and
1-21 WHEREAS, He was the recipient of an Advanced Research Fellow
1-22 of the American Heart Association at the University of California
1-23 Medical Center where he continued his studies from 1963 through
2-1 1965; and
2-2 WHEREAS, After serving as Staff Surgeon with the Veteran's
2-3 Administration Hospital until 1971, Dr. Moody was affiliated
2-4 with the University of Utah School of Medicine and was Chief of
2-5 Surgery at the University Hospital and the University of Utah
2-6 Health Science Center in Salt Lake City; and
2-7 WHEREAS, The renowned surgeon has published numerous
2-8 articles in medical journals and has been a coeditor of Surgical
2-9 Gastroenterology, Digestive Surgery; he has freely shared his
2-10 knowledge and experience as Director of the American Board of
2-11 Surgery and as President of the Utah Chapter of Surgeons; and
2-12 WHEREAS, His care and concern for others have been reflected
2-13 in his magnificent contributions to his profession and to the people
2-14 of Texas who have benefitted from his exceptional abilities; now,
2-15 therefore, be it
2-16 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-17 74th Legislature, hereby express its gratitude to Dr. Frank G. Moody
2-18 for his achievements in the field of surgical medicine; and, be it
2-19 further
2-20 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-21 Dr. Moody as an expression of the gratitude and high regard of
2-22 the Texas Senate.
