No. 103 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 In Memory 1-3 of 1-4 Weldon Scarbrough 1-5 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens 1-6 of Lubbock in mourning the loss of Weldon Scarbrough who died 1-7 January 13, 1995, at the age of 85; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Born July 19, 1909, in Bangs, Texas, Mr. Scarbrough 1-9 graduated from Lubbock High School and Texas Tech University; he 1-10 married Nina May Odom on September 6, 1930; and 1-11 WHEREAS, He was dedicated to his work with Modern Chevrolet 1-12 until his retirement in 1990; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Highly respected in the community for his many 1-14 accomplishments, Weldon Scarbrough was an exemplary and 1-15 distinguished gentleman; and 1-16 WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he 1-17 gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth, 1-18 and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; 1-19 and 1-20 WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mr. Scarbrough was a member 1-21 of the First United Methodist Church, the Horn Bible Class, and 1-22 the Rafters Sunday School Class; he was also a member of the 1-23 Yellowhouse Masonic Lodge; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Weldon Scarbrough was a devoted husband, father, 2-2 and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be 2-3 treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, 2-4 be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-6 74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved 2-7 family of Weldon Scarbrough: his wife, Nina Odom Scarbrough; his 2-8 son, Weldon Lamont; his daughter, Julie Scarbrough; his brothers, 2-9 Irvin Scarbrough and Milton Scarbrough; and his three grandchildren; 2-10 and, be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-12 members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the 2-13 Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so 2-14 in memory of Weldon Scarbrough. 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 President of the Senate 2-17 I hereby certify that the above 2-18 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-19 on January 30, 1995, by a rising vote. 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 Secretary of the Senate 2-22 ______________________________________ 2-23 Member, Texas Senate
