No. 111 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 In Memory 1-3 of 1-4 Alpha Ford Reid 1-5 WHEREAS, The citizens of Big Spring mourned the passing of 1-6 one of the city's esteemed residents, Alpha Ford Reid, who died 1-7 January 15, 1995, at the age of 84; and 1-8 WHEREAS, A woman of strong principles and dedication, 1-9 Mrs. Reid was known for her love for her family, her friends, 1-10 and her faith; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Alpha Ford was born in Lamesa on June 6, 1910, 1-12 and had lived in Howard County all her life; she married 1-13 Earl Reid on September 1, 1957, in Big Spring, and the devoted 1-14 couple had shared a long and happy life together until his death 1-15 on September 16, 1979; and 1-16 WHEREAS, A member of Birdwell Lane Baptist Church, Mrs. Reid 1-17 was a devout Christian who lived her faith in her daily life; and 1-18 WHEREAS, She was a registered nurse who had worked for many 1-19 years at Malone and Hogan Hospital and had also been a private 1-20 duty nurse; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Known for her warmth and compassion for the sick and 1-22 elderly, Alpha Reid will be remembered with gratitude by all who 1-23 benefitted from her care; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Her memory will live on in the hearts and minds of 2-2 all who were privileged to share the friendship of this beloved 2-3 individual; now, therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-5 74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the 2-6 members of her family: her stepdaughters, Earlene Williams 2-7 and Ritzy Anderson; her brother, Jerry Ford; her sisters, 2-8 Mrs. Loyd Murphree, Wanda Ford, Mrs. Buck Kyle, and Elsie Woods; 2-9 and her six stepgrandchildren; and, be it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her 2-11 family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, 2-12 and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-13 Alpha Ford Reid. 2-14 ______________________________________ 2-15 President of the Senate 2-16 I hereby certify that the above 2-17 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-18 on January 30, 1995, by a rising vote. 2-19 ______________________________________ 2-20 Secretary of the Senate 2-21 ______________________________________ 2-22 Member, Texas Senate
