    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                           Cecil D. McDonald
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
    1-6  citizens of Big Spring in mourning the loss of prominent citizen
    1-7  Cecil D. McDonald who died January 15, 1995; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, He was born on June 8, 1912, in Big Spring, and
    1-9  married Helen Mae Wagy on December 12, 1937, in Los Angeles,
   1-10  California; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, A lifetime resident of Big Spring, he was the son
   1-12  of Waller Davis and Ida McDonald, pioneer Big Spring residents;
   1-13  and
   1-14        WHEREAS, He was a veteran of the United States Navy and
   1-15  served on the United States Army Advisory Board for two years;
   1-16  and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Mr. McDonald operated McDonald Motors in Big Spring
   1-18  for 30 years; he was also a land developer and built over 300 homes
   1-19  in Big Spring; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, A devout Christian and a member of the First United
   1-21  Methodist Church for 80 years, he was on the Board of Stewards for
   1-22  25 years and was a board member of the Methodist Home in Waco; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Mr. McDonald held the position of city commissioner
    2-1  for four years, and he was appointed to the State Judicial Selection
    2-2  Committee in 1958; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, A man who enjoyed the company of his fellows, he
    2-4  was a member of the Big Spring Masonic Lodge 1340, AF & AM, and
    2-5  Laura B. Hart Chapter 1019 and Big Spring Chapter 67, Order of the
    2-6  Eastern Star; a member of the Suez Shrine who served as Potentate
    2-7  in 1956, Mr. McDonald was the first president of the Big Spring
    2-8  Shrine Club, a director of the Royal Order of Jesters, and a member
    2-9  of the Cabiri; he was an honorary member of the Big Spring Commandery
   2-10  31 Knights Templar and served on the International Advisory Board of
   2-11  Demolay; his absence will be keenly felt; now, therefore, be it
   2-12        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-13  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the members
   2-14  of his bereaved family:  his wife, Helen McDonald; his daughter,
   2-15  Cecilia Adams; his son, Bill McDonald; and his five grandchildren
   2-16  and four great-grandchildren; and, be it further
   2-17        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his
   2-18  family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,
   2-19  and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-20  Cecil D. McDonald.
