    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
    1-3  recognizing the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on the grand
    1-4  occasion of its 150th anniversary which is being celebrated
    1-5  throughout 1995; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor was founded
    1-7  in 1845 as the women's branch of Baylor University; the institution
    1-8  moved from Independence, Texas, to Belton in 1886; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, This first-class university continues to effectively
   1-10  address the educational needs of the central Texas region and has
   1-11  been a major contributor to the educational, social, spiritual, and
   1-12  cultural climate of the state for more than a century; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, For 10 consecutive years, the institution has had
   1-14  record enrollments and throughout its history has consistently
   1-15  aimed at providing resources and academic curriculum that would
   1-16  inspire students and prepare them for their future vocational
   1-17  roles; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, The special celebration of the University of
   1-19  Mary Hardin-Baylor's 150th anniversary is an opportunity for all
   1-20  who have attended the institution to express gratitude for the
   1-21  high standards it upholds and for the excellent educational
   1-22  opportunities it provides; now, therefore, be it
   1-23        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-1  74th Legislature, hereby commend the administration and faculty
    2-2  of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor for their superior efforts
    2-3  and extend best wishes to all associated with this fine institution
    2-4  for a joyous sesquicentennial anniversary; and, be it further
    2-5        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-6  the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor as an expression of esteem
    2-7  from the Texas Senate.
