    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                            Leroy Ferguson
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
    1-6  of Harris County in mourning the loss of Leroy Ferguson who died
    1-7  January 23, 1995, at the age of 76; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Born in 1919 in Houston, Leroy Ferguson served
    1-9  in the United States Army and became a well-known leader in his
   1-10  community; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Mr. Ferguson was dedicated to his work as a
   1-12  precinct judge in Harris County's Precinct 66 and was known
   1-13  as a compassionate, fair-minded judge who strove to ensure a
   1-14  peaceful election process; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Leroy Ferguson was respected
   1-16  for his many accomplishments; his work in the community included
   1-17  assisting with Little League activities and projects with the
   1-18  Boy Scouts of America; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he
   1-20  gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth,
   1-21  and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him;
   1-22  and
   1-23        WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mr. Ferguson was a lifetime
    2-1  member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and served as church clerk
    2-2  for 20 years and as Sunday school superintendent for 30 years; he
    2-3  was also a deacon and president of the Usher Board; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, Leroy Ferguson was a devoted husband and father,
    2-5  and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by
    2-6  his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
    2-7        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-8  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
    2-9  bereaved family of Leroy Ferguson:  his wife, Helen Ferguson;
   2-10  and his children, Gwendolyn Ferguson, Sherman Ferguson,
   2-11  Michael Ferguson, and Leroy Ferguson, Jr.; and, be it further
   2-12        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-13  members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
   2-14  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
   2-15  in memory of Leroy Ferguson.
