    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, Lowell Newman of Canton, Texas, was recently named
    1-3  a 1994 "Texas Farm Bureau Pioneer" at the Texas Farm Bureau Annual
    1-4  Convention held in Dallas; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Each year the Texas Farm Bureau Pioneer award is
    1-6  presented to a member in each of the organization's 13 districts for
    1-7  distinguished service to the Texas Farm Bureau and to agriculture;
    1-8  and
    1-9        WHEREAS, An active member of the Van Zandt County Farm
   1-10  Bureau since 1958, Mr. Newman was chosen to receive the award for
   1-11  District V; he has served with distinction on the Van Zandt County
   1-12  Farm Bureau Board of Directors since 1970 and has only missed being
   1-13  a voting delegate at one annual state convention during that time;
   1-14  and
   1-15        WHEREAS, His contributions to the Van Zandt County Farm
   1-16  Bureau have been exceptional; he has served as its president,
   1-17  chaired the national affairs committee, and was chairman of the
   1-18  building committee when the farm bureau building was constructed;
   1-19  and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Instrumental in developing the Van Zandt County Farm
   1-21  Bureau Farm Store, he has also contributed his time and energies
   1-22  for the past 12 years to the board of directors of the county fair;
   1-23  and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Recognized for his important achievements in the
    2-2  field of agriculture, Mr. Newman was named "Outstanding Hay
    2-3  Producer" in 1984 and "Agriculturist of the Year" in 1989; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, Mr. Newman and his wife, Thelma, have freely given
    2-5  of their time and talents to the citizens of Canton through their
    2-6  civic involvement and as members of the First Baptist Church for
    2-7  the past 29 years; now, therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-9  74th Legislature, hereby extend hearty congratulations to
   2-10  Lowell Newman for being named a "Texas Farm Bureau Pioneer" for
   2-11  1994 and extend best wishes to him for continued success in the
   2-12  future; and, be it further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-14  Mr. Newman as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
