    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Shelton family has contributed to the colorful
    1-3  history of Texas for the past 150 years; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, The Shelton family has given Texas two outstanding
    1-5  citizens by the name of Emmett Shelton who were both born on
    1-6  February 12; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, Emmett Shelton, Sr., followed the family tradition
    1-8  in the practice of law in Austin and was active with state and
    1-9  local politics for over 40 years, working with such Texas notables
   1-10  as Lyndon Johnson, "Ma" Ferguson, and Coke Stevenson; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, He contributed to the character of Central Texas by
   1-12  incorporating and developing the City of West Lake Hills, served
   1-13  the nation as a United States Marine in World War II, and serves
   1-14  Texas to this day by recording local history for future
   1-15  generations; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, On Emmett Shelton, Sr.'s, 26th birthday he was
   1-17  blessed with the birth of the first of three sons and named
   1-18  him Emmett Shelton, Jr.; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Emmett Shelton, Jr., served the community of
   1-20  West Lake Hills for over 20 years as a local business leader,
   1-21  police chief, and volunteer fireman; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, He served his country in the United States Marines
   1-23  during the Korean War in the Chosin Reservoir Entrapment and
    2-1  suffered disability; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, He has continued to enrich the lives of his fellow
    2-3  Marines for the past 10 years by publishing a monthly Marine
    2-4  history journal; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, On February 12, 1995, Emmett Shelton, Sr., will
    2-6  celebrate his 90th birthday and Emmett Shelton, Jr., will
    2-7  celebrate his 64th birthday; and
    2-8        WHEREAS, The dedicated public service of these two
    2-9  distinguished Texans serves as a model to all Texans; now,
   2-10  therefore, be it
   2-11        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-12  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere congratulations to
   2-13  Emmett Shelton, Sr., and Emmett Shelton, Jr., on the grand
   2-14  occasion of their birthdays; and, be it further
   2-15        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-16  each of these distinguished Texans as a memento of this special
   2-17  day in their lives.
