No. 145 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 In Memory 1-3 of 1-4 Fay David Holt 1-5 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the 1-6 citizens of Idalou in mourning the loss of Fay David Holt who 1-7 died January 22, 1995; and 1-8 WHEREAS, He was born on September 20, 1910, in Jack County; 1-9 he married Lettie Ruth Brewer on June 28, 1936; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The devoted couple provided a nurturing home for 1-11 their four children; and 1-12 WHEREAS, A charter member of South Plains Associated Grocers, 1-13 he enjoyed his career as owner of Holt's Finer Foods in Lubbock; 1-14 a man who loved the outdoor life, he farmed in the Muleshoe area 1-15 until 1993; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Devoted to the interests both present and future 1-17 of his community, he gave selflessly of his time and energies to 1-18 the needs of the people in his town; and 1-19 WHEREAS, A man of deep feelings and convictions, he was 1-20 a devout member of the Idalou United Methodist Church; and 1-21 WHEREAS, His wise counsel and good judgment will be 1-22 greatly missed and remembered with gratitude by those whose 1-23 lives he touched; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-2 74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the 2-3 members of his family: his wife, Lettie Ruth Holt; his 2-4 sons, Glen Holt, Jerry Holt, and Ronnie Holt; his daughter, 2-5 Robbie Ausley; his sisters, Velma Smith, Gladys Timberlake, 2-6 Ima Pickford, and Naomi Fleming; and his 14 grandchildren and 2-7 seven great-grandchildren; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his 2-9 family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, 2-10 and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-11 Fay David Holt. 2-12 ______________________________________ 2-13 President of the Senate 2-14 I hereby certify that the above 2-15 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-16 on February 6, 1995, by a rising vote. 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 Secretary of the Senate 2-19 ______________________________________ 2-20 Member, Texas Senate
