No. 156 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, It is a distinct honor for the Texas Senate 1-3 to recognize Jo Byler of Dublin, Texas, for her exceptional 1-4 contributions to the citizens of Erath County; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Jo Byler has been a special person to many people 1-6 in the county who have benefitted from her wisdom, compassion, and 1-7 dedication; and 1-8 WHEREAS, A loyal and hardworking Republican, she has devoted 1-9 countless hours as a precinct chairman campaigning for her party's 1-10 candidates since 1960; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Presently a member of the Board of Directors for the 1-12 Lincoln Forum in Erath County, Mrs. Byler served as an election 1-13 judge for the 1994 primary election and for the 1994 general 1-14 election; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Deeply involved in Republican politics for over 1-16 30 years, she helped organize the Republican Club as well as the 1-17 Republican Women's Club in Nolan County and served as secretary 1-18 of that organization; and 1-19 WHEREAS, For her notable accomplishments, Jo Byler was named 1-20 Volunteer of the Year in 1992 for Senate District 22; she has been 1-21 supported in all her Grand Old Party activities by her husband, 1-22 Marion; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Married on January 15, 1940, in Nolan, Texas, 2-1 Jo and Marion Byler recently celebrated 55 years of marriage; 2-2 they have shared their political contributions and humanitarian 2-3 endeavors by working closely together; and 2-4 WHEREAS, The remarkable couple continues to assist and 2-5 minister to many young adults who were foster children in their 2-6 home; they also welcome college students, developmentally disabled 2-7 friends, and senior citizens to their kitchen table; Marion is an 2-8 avid hunter who brings home game, and Jo is an excellent cook who 2-9 prepares the dishes they share with others; and 2-10 WHEREAS, Jo Byler's warmth, helpfulness, and generosity of 2-11 spirit have endeared her to people from all walks of life, and 2-12 she has inspired others through her splendid example; now, 2-13 therefore, be it 2-14 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-15 74th Legislature, hereby commend Jo Byler for her notable 2-16 accomplishments and express its gratitude for her faithfulness 2-17 to the Erath County community; and, be it further 2-18 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-19 Jo Byler as an expression of the admiration of the Texas Senate. 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 President of the Senate 2-22 I hereby certify that the above 2-23 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-24 on February 7, 1995. 2-25 ______________________________________ 3-1 Secretary of the Senate 3-2 ______________________________________ 3-3 Member, Texas Senate
