    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The office of the Comptroller of the State of Texas
    1-3  will sorely miss the wisdom and expertise of Melvin Lee Sobotik who
    1-4  will be retiring on February 28, 1995, after over 31 years of
    1-5  outstanding service; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Noted for his honesty and integrity, Mr. Sobotik has
    1-7  earned the respect and friendship of his colleagues; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Born on February 28, 1945, in Frenstat, Texas, he
    1-9  graduated from Somerville High School in Somerville; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Employed in the Claims Division, he has worked
   1-11  for the comptroller's office since the office was located in the
   1-12  Capitol Building; at that time he was responsible for delivering
   1-13  warrants, by car, to Texas A&M University, Sam Houston State
   1-14  University, and Prairie View A&M University; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, His numerous duties have included balancing Aid
   1-16  to Families with Dependent Children checks for the Department of
   1-17  Human Services and balancing unemployment checks for the Texas
   1-18  Employment Commission; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, A vital and active member of his community, this
   1-20  selfless individual has donated his time and energies to Aqua
   1-21  Fest for the last 15 years; he began as a volunteer, rose through
   1-22  the ranks, and is now Executive Vice-Commodore over physical
   1-23  arrangements; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, An avid hunter, Melvin plans to travel, ski,
    2-2  participate in more volunteer work, and spend more time with
    2-3  his daughter, Michelle, after he retires; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, He has willingly devoted his talent, knowledge,
    2-5  and ability to the service of this great state; now, therefore,
    2-6  be it
    2-7        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-8  74th Legislature, hereby commend Melvin Lee Sobotik for his
    2-9  superlative career of service and dedication to the people of Texas;
   2-10  and, be it further
   2-11        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
   2-12  as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
