    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great pleasure
    1-3  in welcoming the students from Buenos Aires, Argentina, who are
    1-4  participating in the Fundacion Universitaria del Rio de la Plata
    1-5  program at the Lyndon Baines Johnson School of Public Affairs; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, A private, nonprofit institution created in 1970 by
    1-7  a group of young university graduates, the Fundacion Universitaria
    1-8  del Rio de la Plata is directed toward furthering the political,
    1-9  social, and economic knowledge of potential community leaders in
   1-10  Argentina; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, The activities of FURP have been generously
   1-12  supported by private corporations and institutions, including
   1-13  American firms who have interests in Argentina; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Since its establishment, FURP has organized
   1-15  seminars in the United States in which hundreds of young university
   1-16  students and graduates from all over Argentina have had the
   1-17  opportunity to profit from the knowledge and insights they gain;
   1-18  and
   1-19        WHEREAS, The 16 outstanding students who are participating
   1-20  in the program at the Lyndon Baines Johnson School of Public Affairs
   1-21  have been selected on the basis of their potential as young leaders
   1-22  to be members of the Fundacion Universitaria del Rio de la Plata,
   1-23  thus allowing them to direct their abilities toward better community
    2-1  service; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, It is a distinct honor for the Texas Senate to
    2-3  recognize these young men and women who will become the future
    2-4  leaders of their country:  group leader Maria Haydee Miguel,
    2-5  Juan Manuel Abal Medina, Laura Alonso, Leonardo Daniel Constantino,
    2-6  Leandro Garcia Silva, Miguel Angel Amaya, Jorge Luis Ramiros Bastons,
    2-7  Rodolfo Tercero Burgos, Diego Raul Garciarena, Mauricio Imperatori,
    2-8  Julian Eduardo Kopecek, Angelina Larriqueta, Marcelo Fabian Gregorio,
    2-9  Inez Maria Pousadela, Pablo Hector Walter, and Guido Martin Sandleris;
   2-10  now, therefore, be it
   2-11        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-12  74th Legislature, hereby commend these dedicated individuals who
   2-13  are broadening their education in order to better understand the
   2-14  problems of their society and to prepare themselves for their roles
   2-15  as community leaders; and, be it further
   2-16        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be presented to them
   2-17  as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
