1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased and
1-3 proud to welcome the participants of Leadership Corpus Christi
1-4 to the State Capitol on February 9, 1995; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Leadership Corpus Christi was established in 1972
1-6 by the Chamber of Commerce and is the third oldest community
1-7 leadership program in the country; it is an annual series of
1-8 educational programs that focus on significant community
1-9 information and issues; and
1-10 WHEREAS, This illustrious program has as its purpose
1-11 advancing positive, progressive, and orderly business and
1-12 professional development in the Corpus Christi area using a
1-13 twofold approach: it seeks to educate potential and existing
1-14 business and community leaders about the diverse realities,
1-15 personalities, and challenges in the city; and it seeks to
1-16 develop and enhance visionary leadership skills through
1-17 in-depth training; and
1-18 WHEREAS, While informing the participants about
1-19 Corpus Christi's history, government, social issues, need, and
1-20 opportunities and the existing processes for dealing with them,
1-21 the program gives them an opportunity to establish dialogue with
1-22 each other and current leaders of Corpus Christi; the participants
1-23 are further encouraged to actively join in future enterprises
2-1 which enhance the growth and betterment of the Corpus Christi
2-2 area; and
2-3 WHEREAS, More than 650 alumni from Leadership Corpus Christi
2-4 have graduated since its establishment; graduates have assumed
2-5 active roles in the community and have become an integral part
2-6 of over 600 civic, business, and professional organizations; this
2-7 extremely successful program truly deserves legislative recognition;
2-8 now, therefore, be it
2-9 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-10 74th Legislature, hereby commend and applaud the success of
2-11 Leadership Corpus Christi and welcome its new associates to the
2-12 State Capitol; and, be it further
2-13 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-14 Leadership Corpus Christi as an expression of the highest esteem
2-15 of the Texas Senate.
