    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
    1-3  recognize the Dallas Acts Kind group as it observes Kindness
    1-4  Week from February 12 through February 19, 1995; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Dallas Mayor Steve Bartlett has proclaimed
    1-6  Kindness Week as an opportunity for the citizenry to promote the
    1-7  reaching out of each person to one another across all sectors of
    1-8  society; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Common to each of us is a desire to leave
   1-10  the world a better place for having lived in it; Kindness Week
   1-11  addresses that need and gives people an opportunity to change
   1-12  their world; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Inspired by the movie Schindler's List and
   1-14  the book Random Acts of Kindness, the idea for this special
   1-15  week came from the men and women of Dallas Acts Kind; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, This particular group feels that the world has
   1-17  become the sort of place where individual efforts to act with
   1-18  charity toward one another have become necessary in order for
   1-19  society to survive; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Since the world has become so violent, there is
   1-21  a real need for people to make an effort to stop the violence;
   1-22  one solution is to initiate such activities as Kindness Week;
   1-23  and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Kindness Week is intended to witness, to celebrate,
    2-2  and to promote the value and spirit of kindness; it asks each
    2-3  citizen to commit random, but purposeful, acts of kindness; now,
    2-4  therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-6  74th Legislature, hereby recognize and commend the sponsors of
    2-7  Kindness Week; and, be it further
    2-8        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared
    2-9  for them as a token of high regard from the Texas Senate.
