No. 198 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great 1-3 pleasure in recognizing 13 outstanding residents of the Rebekah 1-4 Baines Johnson Retirement Center who are over 90 years of age; 1-5 and 1-6 WHEREAS, These remarkable women have shown courage and 1-7 commitment to life and are exemplary role models for younger 1-8 generations; through good times and bad, they have been women 1-9 of vision who have exhibited great strength of character and who 1-10 have faced life's difficulties with resilience and good humor; 1-11 and 1-12 WHEREAS, The Rebekah Baines Johnson Retirement Center is 1-13 hosting a special Valentine's Party on February 14, 1995, to 1-14 honor these special citizens who have embraced life and all 1-15 it offers with enjoyment and contentment; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Born September 1, 1902, in Reed Wood, Mississippi, 1-17 Louise Bradshaw moved to Texas in 1922 and was the chief operator 1-18 for the telephone company for many years; she also did PBX work 1-19 for the American-Statesman and various hotels in Austin; she has 1-20 three children, three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; 1-21 and 1-22 WHEREAS, Mrs. Bradshaw enjoys growing African violets; her 1-23 favorite song is "Beyond the Sunset"; and her philosophy is "Live 2-1 today and let tomorrow take care of itself; do the best you can 2-2 today"; and 2-3 WHEREAS, It is fitting that the Texas Senate honor this 2-4 distinguished citizen for her many contributions over her long 2-5 and fruitful life; now, therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-7 74th Legislature, hereby recognize Louise Bradshaw as an honored 2-8 citizen of her community and her state; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-10 her as an expression of the high esteem of the Texas Senate. 2-11 ______________________________________ 2-12 President of the Senate 2-13 I hereby certify that the above 2-14 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-15 on February 13, 1995. 2-16 ______________________________________ 2-17 Secretary of the Senate 2-18 ______________________________________ 2-19 Member, Texas Senate
