    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                           John D. Ratkovic
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
    1-6  of Corpus Christi in mourning the loss of John D. Ratkovic who
    1-7  died February 7, 1995; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, A man of deep feelings and convictions, Mr. Ratkovic
    1-9  was an active member of Saint Andrew by the Sea Catholic Church;
   1-10  and
   1-11        WHEREAS, A man who gave freely of his time to others,
   1-12  Mr. Ratkovic had served four terms in the Texas Silver-Haired
   1-13  Legislature, was a candidate in the 1994 Nueces County Commissioners
   1-14  race, and was a member of the State Board of Insurance, Senior's
   1-15  Advisory Committee; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, An inhabitant of Corpus Christi for 15 years, he
   1-17  was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1202, Moose Lodge
   1-18  Chapter 734, the Polish Organization of South Texas, the American
   1-19  Association of Retired Persons, and the Ethel Eyerly Community
   1-20  Center; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, A man who had contributed a great deal to his
   1-22  community, Mr. Ratkovic was also a Gold Star member of the
   1-23  Kiwanis and a member of the Corpus Christi Park and Recreational
    2-1  Committee; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, His wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not
    2-3  be forgotten by those who knew him;  an official Texas flag was
    2-4  flown over the State Capitol on February 10, 1995, that will be
    2-5  presented to his family; now, therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-7  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to
    2-8  the members of his family:  his wife, Bernice Ratkovic; his
    2-9  son, Jack Ratkovic; his daughter, Janet Murphy; his mother,
   2-10  Theresa Ratkovic; his brother, Andrew Ratkovic; and his five
   2-11  grandchildren; and, be it further
   2-12        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his
   2-13  family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,
   2-14  and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-15  John D. Ratkovic.
