    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Milby Varsity Cheerleaders won first place
    1-3  at the regional competition held at Klein Oak High School in
    1-4  Houston on November 20, 1994, and the Texas Senate is proud to
    1-5  congratulate this exceptional group of 18 fine young gymnasts
    1-6  on their outstanding accomplishment; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, As a result of their first place win, the Milby
    1-8  Varsity Cheerleaders will compete at the Universal Cheerleaders
    1-9  Association National Competition held in Orlando, Florida,
   1-10  February 17 through February 21, 1995; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, The Universal Cheerleaders Association National
   1-12  Competition brings together the finest cheerleaders in the country;
   1-13  the competition is demanding and tensions run high as each group
   1-14  vies for first place; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The Milby Varsity Cheerleaders have devoted many
   1-16  hours to practicing and refining their routines and honing their
   1-17  skills in order to reach the peak of their performance; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Besides attending classes and keeping up with their
   1-19  studies, the students also work at part-time jobs; over half of
   1-20  the squad are honor students and one member is valedictorian of
   1-21  the senior class; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Since last June the squad has been raising money
   1-23  to cover the cost of the trip to Orlando which is approximately
    2-1  $12,000; they have displayed the leadership and perseverance
    2-2  necessary to accomplish their goal and have brought honor and
    2-3  a sense of pride to Milby High School; now, therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-5  74th Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the Milby Varsity
    2-6  Cheerleaders for continued success in the Universal Cheerleaders
    2-7  Association National Competition; and, be it further
    2-8        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared
    2-9  for the members of the squad as a memento of their exceptional
   2-10  accomplishment and as a token of the esteem of the Texas Senate.
