No. 212 1-2 (In the Senate - Filed February 14, 1995; February 14, 1995, 1-3 read first time and referred to Committee on State Affairs; 1-4 April 4, 1995, reported favorably by the following vote: Yeas 11, 1-5 Nays 0; April 4, 1995, sent to printer.) 1-6 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-7 WHEREAS, The United States Congress recently passed the 1-8 Riegle-Neal Interstate Banking and Branching Efficiency Act of 1-9 1994, Public Law 103-328; and 1-10 WHEREAS, That Act authorizes interstate banking throughout 1-11 the United States and creates interstate branch banking; and 1-12 WHEREAS, The Act provides that a state may choose to opt out 1-13 of the Act before its implementation June 1, 1997; now, therefore, 1-14 be it 1-15 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 74th 1-16 Legislature, hereby request that the Congress of the United States 1-17 report to the Texas Legislature all the states which choose to opt 1-18 out of interstate branch banking before June 1, 1997; and, be it 1-19 further 1-20 RESOLVED, That the Texas Secretary of State forward official 1-21 copies of this resolution to the Speaker of the House of 1-22 Representatives of the United States Congress, to the President of 1-23 the Senate of the United States Congress, and to all members of the 1-24 Texas delegation to the congress, with the request that this 1-25 resolution be officially entered in the Congressional Record of the 1-26 Congress of the United States. 1-27 * * * * *
