    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
    1-3  recognizing Josephine Torres who is retiring after 27 years of
    1-4  loyal service with the West Dallas Community Centers; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Josephine Torres joined the West Dallas Community
    1-6  Centers as a youth worker in 1968, and in 1975, she became Director
    1-7  of the Bataan Community Center; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, During her tenure, Mrs. Torres was an exceptionally
    1-9  dedicated employee who was well known for her hard work and
   1-10  generous spirit; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, A highly resourceful and talented individual,
   1-12  Josephine Torres has served on the Board of Directors of the
   1-13  Executive Committee of the Greater Dallas Community Relations
   1-14  Commission, the Board of Directors of the Dallas Concilio of
   1-15  Hispanic Service Organizations, and the Board of Directors of
   1-16  the Dallas Arthritis Foundation; she was a founding board member
   1-17  of the Barrios Unidos Clinic; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Accolades for her outstanding work include
   1-19  the 1990 Hispanic Salute Award from Ford Motor Dealers, the
   1-20  1990 Outstanding Board Member of the Year Award from the Greater
   1-21  Dallas Community Relations Commission, and the 1989 Mary Lee Castro
   1-22  Award for Volunteer Service from the Dallas Concilio of Hispanic
   1-23  Service Organizations; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Mrs. Torres's concern for others is legendary,
    2-2  and she has played a major role in making the West Dallas Community
    2-3  Centers as successful as they are today; now, therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-5  74th Legislature, hereby commend Josephine Torres for her
    2-6  exceptional accomplishments and her dedication to the West Dallas
    2-7  Community Centers; and, be it further
    2-8        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared
    2-9  for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
