    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                              Oleta Raper
    1-5        WHEREAS, The citizens of Dimmitt, Texas, mourned the loss of
    1-6  Castro County Treasurer Oleta Raper, who died January 26, 1995, at
    1-7  the age of 61; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Oleta Boozer was born on January 5, 1934, in Abra,
    1-9  and she graduated from Shallowater High School and Draughon's
   1-10  Business College; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Oleta married John B. Raper on February 14, 1954,
   1-12  in Castro County, and they enjoyed a happy home life until his
   1-13  death in 1987; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, A devout Christian, she was an active member of
   1-15  the First Assembly of God Church and the Women's Ministry of
   1-16  the First Assembly of God Church; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, In 1978, Mrs. Raper became Castro County treasurer;
   1-18  she enjoyed her career and exhibited great dedication to her work;
   1-19  and
   1-20        WHEREAS, In devoting much of her time to the betterment of
   1-21  her community, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star,
   1-22  the Home Demonstration Club, the TOPS Club, and the Texas County
   1-23  Treasurer's Association; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Mrs. Raper also served her community as a sexton
    2-2  for the Westlawn Memorial Park; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, She leaves a legacy of compassion and commitment
    2-4  that will remain cherished by those who lived and worked with
    2-5  her; now, therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-7  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to her family:
    2-8  her son, Joe Raper; her daughter, Donetta Hendrickson; her mother,
    2-9  Merle Boozer; her brothers, Monty Boozer and Glenn Boozer; her
   2-10  sister, Edena Byler; and her five grandchildren; and, be it further
   2-11        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-12  the family of Oleta Raper as an expression of deepest sympathy from
   2-13  the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it
   2-14  do so in memory of Oleta Raper.
