    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                              Melba Maxey
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Texas Senate joins the citizens of Lubbock
    1-6  in mourning the loss of Melba Maxey who died January 26, 1995,
    1-7  at the age of 83; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Born June 14, 1911, in Roscoe, Melba Maxey
    1-9  graduated from Lubbock High School and Texas Tech University;
   1-10  she married Homer G. Maxey on June 21, 1932; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, She was dedicated to her work as a homemaker
   1-12  and was respected for her many accomplishments; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, An exemplary lady and a leader in her community,
   1-14  Mrs. Maxey was a charter member of the Junior League of Lubbock
   1-15  and the Lubbock Women's Club and a member of the Lubbock Junior
   1-16  Garden Club; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity,
   1-18  she gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom,
   1-19  warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who
   1-20  knew her; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mrs. Maxey was a member of
   1-22  the First United Methodist Church; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Melba Maxey was a devoted wife, mother, and
    2-1  grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be
    2-2  treasured forever by her family and many friends; now,
    2-3  therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-5  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
    2-6  bereaved family of Melba Maxey:  her daughters, Carla McNeill
    2-7  and Glenna Goodacre; and her seven grandchildren and five
    2-8  great-grandchildren; and, be it further
    2-9        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-10  the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy
   2-11  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
   2-12  day, it do so in memory of Melba Maxey.
