    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                             O. O. Tekell
    1-5        WHEREAS, The citizens of Tahoka, Texas, mourned the passing
    1-6  of one of the community's most prominent residents, O. O. Tekell,
    1-7  who died January 31, 1995, at the age of 81; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Mr. Tekell will be remembered with gratitude for
    1-9  his dedication to his family and for his important contributions
   1-10  to the life of the community; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Born in Hubbard, Texas, on January 14, 1914,
   1-12  Mr. Tekell received his education in Hill County schools; he
   1-13  married Geneva Catherine Richards on November 14, 1931, in
   1-14  Norton, and the devoted couple provided a loving home for their
   1-15  four children; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, A gentleman of integrity who took care of the
   1-17  land he loved, Mr. Tekell was a successful farmer who shared
   1-18  his knowledge with his neighbors as a member of the Tahoka
   1-19  Co-op Gin Board; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, A member of the First Baptist Church, he was a
   1-21  devout Christian who lived his faith in his daily life; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, His wise counsel and sound judgment will be deeply
   1-23  missed by his family and friends and all who had the privilege
    2-1  of knowing him; now, therefore, be it
    2-2        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-3  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
    2-4  family of O. O. Tekell:  his wife, Geneva; his sons, Wayne and
    2-5  Gaylon; his daughters, Darlene Thorne and Elwanda Grogan; his
    2-6  brothers, Allie Houston and Robert; his sisters, Birdie Goforth
    2-7  and Edna Stewart; and his 10 grandchildren and 15
    2-8  great-grandchildren; and, be it further
    2-9        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-10  the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
   2-11  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
   2-12  day, it do so in memory of O. O. Tekell.
