    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased and
    1-3  proud to commend the Madisonville Meteor on the auspicious
    1-4  occasion of its 100th year of service to the citizens of Madison
    1-5  County and the surrounding area; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, For the past century this periodical has maintained
    1-7  a tradition of providing its subscribers with the most recent and
    1-8  important local news and information in an accurate and responsible
    1-9  manner; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Thomas J. Stevens began the life of this important
   1-11  publication almost a century ago; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, A special supplement to commemorate this event will
   1-13  be published in the Madisonville Meteor on February 22, 1995; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, There have been many publishers and editors who have
   1-15  manned the helm of the paper that has continued to be a vital part
   1-16  of the life of Madison County; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, In marking the newspaper's 100th anniversary of
   1-18  service, Madison County citizens pay tribute to the men and women
   1-19  who contributed to the enduring success and excellence of the
   1-20  publication which has been fortunate enough to have had dedicated
   1-21  staffs working diligently to produce an outstanding paper; now,
   1-22  therefore, be it
   1-23        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-1  74th Legislature, hereby congratulate the Madisonville Meteor on
    2-2  the grand occasion of its 100th anniversary; and, be it further
    2-3        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-4  the Madisonville Meteor as a memento of this special event with
    2-5  best wishes for many more years of continued success from the
    2-6  Texas Senate.
