    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great
    1-3  pleasure in congratulating Nettie Nichols of Crockett, Texas,
    1-4  on the grand occasion of her 100th birthday; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Her warm smile and gentle manner have endeared
    1-6  her to all who have the privilege of knowing her; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, Born on January 14, 1895, Nettie has firsthand
    1-8  experience of many historic changes in the world; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, She has filled her days with a devoted service
   1-10  to her family, her friends, and her community; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, A devoted mother to her children, Howard Nichols
   1-12  and Bernice Taylor, Nettie is proud of her seven grandchildren,
   1-13  12 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, A vital member of her community, Mrs. Nichols is
   1-15  noted for her exemplary enthusiasm for living each day to the
   1-16  fullest; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, In commemoration of her 100th birthday, a reception
   1-18  was held in her honor at the Houston County Nursing Home where
   1-19  she is a resident; now, therefore, be it
   1-20        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   1-21  74th Legislature, hereby recognize Nettie Nichols as a treasured
   1-22  citizen of her town and state, wishing her continued health and
   1-23  happiness; and, be it further
    2-1        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to her
    2-2  as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate.
