    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Senate join the citizens
    1-3  of Arlington, Texas, in expressing their gratitude and great
    1-4  admiration for the extraordinary act of heroism of George Davey
    1-5  on December 13, 1994, in the Boles Junior High school yard;
    1-6  and
    1-7        WHEREAS, At noon on that date, some 13 children attacked
    1-8  a student, Curtis R. Pitts, and viciously kicked and beat him
    1-9  while holding his arms behind his back; witnesses attested to
   1-10  the fact that the attack was completely unprovoked; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, George Davey, a friend of young Curtis, exhibited
   1-12  great courage without regard for his own safety when he began
   1-13  pulling one after another of the attackers off of the victim
   1-14  while another friend, Justin McNitt, ran for adult help; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The ruffians were thwarted only by the bravery of
   1-16  George Davey who saved Curtis from serious injury and possible
   1-17  death; thanks to George's quick thinking and unselfish actions,
   1-18  his friend is alive and well today; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Such displays of valor are rare even among adults,
   1-20  but George is an exemplary young man who acted fearlessly out
   1-21  of friendship, leadership, duty, and honor in response to a
   1-22  dangerous situation; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, It is indeed fitting that the Texas Senate commend
    2-1  the valor of George Davey and recognize him as an outstanding
    2-2  citizen of Texas and a most distinguished Texas hero; now,
    2-3  therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-5  74th Legislature, hereby applaud the undaunted courage of
    2-6  George Davey and express its appreciation to this admirable young
    2-7  gentleman; and, be it further
    2-8        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-9  George Davey as a token of the deepest respect and highest regard
   2-10  of the Texas Senate.
