1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
1-3 recognizing Charles G. Shandera for his 44 years of meritorious
1-4 public service in our state; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Charley Shandera began his career as the Juvenile
1-6 Probation Officer for Harris County and then served as the first
1-7 Chief Adult Probation Officer for Harris County; in 1972, he was
1-8 appointed to the Board of Pardons and Paroles by Justice John Onion;
1-9 and
1-10 WHEREAS, He was a Parole Officer for the Texas Board of
1-11 Pardons and Paroles, and since 1986, he has served as the Probation
1-12 Officer, Special Services Manager, and Community DWI Traffic Safety
1-13 Project Coordinator for the Montgomery County Department of
1-14 Community Supervision and Corrections; and
1-15 WHEREAS, A man of many talents and uncommon perseverance,
1-16 Mr. Shandera has also been the founder of an adult halfway house,
1-17 an organizer for the Criminal Justice Policy Council, and a designer
1-18 for the Montgomery County Treatment Center; and
1-19 WHEREAS, Charley Shandera has dedicated his life to the
1-20 criminal justice system and to helping it become effective for
1-21 all, and he is well known for his hard work and his high moral
1-22 principles; and
1-23 WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman who is generous with his
2-1 time and energy, Charley Shandera is beloved by members of the
2-2 community and by his colleagues at work, and he has made many
2-3 worthy contributions to the people of the State of Texas; now,
2-4 therefore, be it
2-5 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-6 74th Legislature, hereby commend Charley Shandera for his
2-7 dedication to the criminal justice system and extend to him best
2-8 wishes for continued success in the future; and, be it further
2-9 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-10 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
