    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, Dr. James L. Garlow is celebrating the notable
    1-3  occasion of his 12th anniversary as pastor of the Metroplex Chapel
    1-4  located in Euless, Texas, and the Texas Senate takes great pleasure
    1-5  in extending congratulations to him on this momentous milestone;
    1-6  and
    1-7        WHEREAS, The esteemed pastor has earned the respect and
    1-8  admiration of all those whose lives he has touched through his
    1-9  ministry; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, An inspiring and dedicated spiritual leader,
   1-11  Dr. Garlow is the founder of the Metroplex Chapel which has grown
   1-12  from seven members to 900 in its 12-year history; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Highly educated in his field, Dr. Garlow
   1-14  received his bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees from
   1-15  Southern Nazarene University; he continued his studies at Asbury
   1-16  Theological Seminary where he earned a Master of Divinity degree
   1-17  and at Princeton Theological Seminary where he earned a Master
   1-18  of Theology degree; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Dr. Garlow holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in
   1-20  Historical Theology from Drew University and is a distinguished
   1-21  author of several works equipping laity to help with ministerial
   1-22  duties; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, His publications include Partners in Ministry,
    2-1  the Lay Institute to Equip (LITE) Notebook, a musical entitled
    2-2  "We (laity) are Ministers," and two videotape series:  "Partners
    2-3  in Ministry" and "All God's People"; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father, Dr. Garlow has been
    2-5  supported and sustained throughout his ministry by the love of his
    2-6  wife, Carol, and their four children, Janie, Joshua, Jacob, and
    2-7  Josie; now, therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-9  74th Legislature, hereby recognize Dr. James L. Garlow on the 12th
   2-10  anniversary of the founding of the Metroplex Chapel and extend best
   2-11  wishes to him for continued success and a most rewarding ministry;
   2-12  and, be it further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a
   2-14  memento of this blessed observance in the life of Dr. Garlow and
   2-15  the members of the Metroplex Chapel.
