1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION

1-3 of
1-4 Frank Beverly Lloyd, Jr.
1-5 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
1-6 citizens of Alice in mourning the loss of lifelong resident
1-7 Frank Beverly "Bev" Lloyd, Jr., who died February 5, 1995, at
1-8 the age of 63; and
1-9 WHEREAS, He attended The University of Texas and earned
1-10 his bachelor's degree in 1952 and his law degree in 1954 before
1-11 passing the Texas State Bar in the same year; and
1-12 WHEREAS, District attorney from 1965 through 1974, Mr. Lloyd
1-13 had practiced law in Alice for 37 years; and
1-14 WHEREAS, Remembered as a friend to the community's youth,
1-15 Mr. Lloyd had been engaged in civic affairs all of his
1-16 professional life; and
1-17 WHEREAS, He was chosen Alice Citizen of the Year in 1969,
1-18 was active in the Campfire Girls, and was a charter member of
1-19 the Alice Boys and Girls Club; and
1-20 WHEREAS, Well known as a man who gave generously of his
1-21 time to others, it was said of Bev Lloyd that he had "never met
1-22 a stranger"; and
1-23 WHEREAS, A distinguished gentleman who made countless
2-1 contributions to his city, county, and state, he was a treasured
2-2 friend to his fellow citizens; and
2-3 WHEREAS, Bev Lloyd was also known well as an effective
2-4 advocate of economic growth; a member of the Alice Chamber of
2-5 Commerce and the Alice Industrial Foundation, he had been nominated
2-6 for the Alice Chamber of Commerce's Hall of Honor and was scheduled
2-7 to be inducted; and
2-8 WHEREAS, Highly respected for his many contributions,
2-9 Bev Lloyd was a beloved gentleman who had a positive influence
2-10 on the lives of countless people, and his absence will be keenly
2-11 felt; now, therefore, be it
2-12 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-13 74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
2-14 members of his family: his wife, Jacqueline; his daughters,
2-15 Joy Doud, Linda Berggren, and Lisa K. Lloyd; his sons,
2-16 Bobby Howell and Clayton Howell; his father, Frank Lloyd; his
2-17 sisters, Martha Goldthorn and Cecile Dickerson; and his two
2-18 grandchildren; and, be it further
2-19 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-20 his family as an expression of most profound sympathy from the
2-21 Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
2-22 so in memory of Frank Beverly Lloyd, Jr.
