    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
    1-3  recognizing the members of the Texas Association of Public Employee
    1-4  Retirement Systems on the occasion of their sixth annual TEXPERS
    1-5  Conference which is being held March 19 through 21, 1995; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement
    1-7  Systems (TEXPERS) is a professional organization that has grown
    1-8  extensively in the last several years and has established the
    1-9  strongest collective body in the state; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, The organization was created to protect the rights
   1-11  of the public employees of Texas as well as the quality and
   1-12  strength of public pension systems throughout the state; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Since it was chartered, the Texas Association
   1-14  of Public Employee Retirement Systems has provided forums for
   1-15  discussing state and national legislative issues that affect
   1-16  Texas pension systems; it has also supplied important information
   1-17  on retirement system administration, benefit designs, and federal
   1-18  programs; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, A voluntary, high quality, nonprofit educational
   1-20  association, it has assumed the tasks of improving the management
   1-21  and administration of Texas public retirement systems and helping
   1-22  to ensure their actuarial integrity; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Many of the nation's outstanding firms who provide
    2-1  professional services to public pension funds are members of the
    2-2  Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems; these
    2-3  associate memberships include actuaries, consultants, custodians,
    2-4  law firms, money managers, and real estate advisors; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, The sixth annual conference agenda includes
    2-6  knowledgeable speakers and numerous panel discussions on pension
    2-7  system issues; the conference also includes a Legislative Day
    2-8  which has been designated as March 21, providing the opportunity
    2-9  for discussions between TEXPERS members and legislators; now,
   2-10  therefore, be it
   2-11        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-12  74th Legislature, hereby commend the Texas Association of Public
   2-13  Employee Retirement Systems for its informative and productive
   2-14  conferences and extend best wishes to its members for continued
   2-15  success; and, be it further
   2-16        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-17  the Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems as
   2-18  an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
