    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
    1-3  recognize Bobby Doyle for his many successful years of superlative
    1-4  musical entertainment; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Born in Houston, Texas, Bobby moved to Austin to
    1-6  attend the Texas School for the Blind, and he graduated from
    1-7  McCallum High School in Austin; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Bobby began playing the guitar professionally when
    1-9  he was 14; when the person who played the piano in Bobby's quintet
   1-10  became ill, Bobby played piano instead and has played only the
   1-11  piano since then; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, This outstanding musician has never taken a music
   1-13  lesson and learned to play the piano basically by ear; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, From 1960 to 1965, Bobby Doyle, Kenny Rogers, and
   1-15  Don Russell worked together and toured throughout Canada and the
   1-16  United States with the Kirby Stone Four; they also toured and
   1-17  performed as the Bobby Doyle Three and put out an album; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Soon after that he performed in Houston with the
   1-19  Bobby Doyle Trio, and he produced a second album with them; during
   1-20  that time he was also a band member and performed vocals for Blood,
   1-21  Sweat, and Tears; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, He produced a third album called simply
   1-23  "Bobby Doyle," and played in clubs all over the country; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, He has appeared in films and made frequent guest
    2-2  appearances on various television shows in the late 1960s and
    2-3  early 1970s; he sang in the movie The Vanishing Point and will be
    2-4  appearing on the Kenny Rogers Special due to air March 4, 1995, on
    2-5  the Disney channel; and
    2-6        WHEREAS, A well-known songwriter, he has composed for many
    2-7  different groups or individuals including the New Christy Minstrels,
    2-8  Sammy Davis, Jr., and Ricky Nelson; he began performing in Austin in
    2-9  the spring of 1989 when he was here for two months and moved back to
   2-10  Austin in late 1990; since his return to Austin, he has appeared at
   2-11  many local clubs; and
   2-12        WHEREAS, Bobby Doyle is prodigiously gifted; he has an
   2-13  extremely broad repertoire and can style his renditions from
   2-14  Nat King Cole to Jim Reeves to Jerry Lee Lewis; his interpretations
   2-15  are subtle and sophisticated and are sure to please a cultured
   2-16  palate; now, therefore, be it
   2-17        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-18  74th Legislature, hereby commend the life and career of
   2-19  Bobby Doyle and express gratitude to him for his lifetime of
   2-20  superb entertainment; and, be it further
   2-21        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-22  him as a demonstration of the high regard and esteem of the
   2-23  Texas Senate.
