    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                   Genoveva Lydia De Garay Hernandez
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate joins the citizens of San Antonio in
    1-6  mourning the loss of Genoveva Lydia De Garay Hernandez who died
    1-7  February 21, 1995, at the age of 74; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Lydia Hernandez grew up to become known as the
    1-9  "Spanish Ann Landers"; she carved out a successful career working
   1-10  at radio station KCOR for 18 years; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Mrs. Hernandez was dedicated to her work and was
   1-12  beloved by her colleagues, and the astute advice she gave her
   1-13  followers was appreciated by countless citizens; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, An exemplary lady, Lydia Hernandez was respected
   1-15  in the community for her accomplishments and for her leadership;
   1-16  and
   1-17        WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity, she
   1-18  gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and
   1-19  valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew her; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Lydia Hernandez had a vibrant personality and a
   1-21  heartwarming smile, and throughout her life, she was a source of
   1-22  strength to many; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Mrs. Hernandez was a member of
    2-1  Saint Paul's Catholic Church; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, Lydia Hernandez was a devoted mother and grandmother
    2-3  who lived her life to the fullest, and she leaves behind memories
    2-4  that will be treasured forever by her family and many friends; now,
    2-5  therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-7  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
    2-8  bereaved family of Genoveva Lydia De Garay Hernandez:  her
    2-9  mother, Concepcion G. Leal; her sons and daughters-in-law,
   2-10  Sergio M. Hernandez and Gloria Hernandez and Mario A. Hernandez
   2-11  and Betty Hernandez; her sisters, Concepcion L. Mendoza and
   2-12  Dolores L. Ledesma; and her seven grandchildren and three
   2-13  great-grandchildren; and, be it further
   2-14        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-15  members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
   2-16  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
   2-17  in memory of Lydia Hernandez.
